24 May 2022. - Ambassador Noel Servigon, the Philippines’ Permanent Representative to ASEAN participated in the 9th ASEAN-Republic of Korea Joint Consultative Committee Meeting, which was held on 24 May 2022 at the ASEAN Secretariat to discuss cooperation between ASEAN and ROK.
Ambassador Servigon expressed his gratitude to the ROK government for its assistance to ASEAN in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that he looks forward to more cooperation activities between ASEAN and ROK in addressing other health challenges through capacity development programmes, exchange of best practices, and research and development.
Ambassador Servigon encouraged ROK to partner with ASEAN in biodiversity conservation and management through the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity in order to mitigate, if not prevent, infectious diseases that are zoonotic in nature. He further expressed the Philippines’ appreciation to ROK for expanding its cooperation with ASEAN on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) through the Technical and Vocational Education and Training through ASEAN Mobility (TEAM). The Philippines is the current Chair of the ATC.
The Meeting explored opportunities to further strengthen ASEAN-ROK cooperation in a number of areas, including disaster response, cultural exchange, public health, trade facilitation, human resources development, digital economy, narrowing the development gap within ASEAN and sustainable development.
The Meeting was attended by the members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR), officials from the ASEAN Secretariat and officials from the ROK’s Mission to ASEAN in Jakarta. (END)

23 May 2022, Jakarta – ASEAN and the European Union launched the 7th edition of the ASEAN-EU Blue Book and the ASEAN-EU Cooperation Expo at the ASEAN Secretariat on 23 May 2022.
The launch event was officially opened by ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Ambassador Noel Servigon, Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, in his capacity as the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations, and Ambassador Igor Driesmans, EU Ambassador to ASEAN.
In his remarks, Ambassador Servigon highlighted that “The year 2022 is a milestone year for ASEAN and the EU, as our two regional organizations celebrate 45 years of dialogue relations. Moreover, this year is also the 55th year of the Bangkok Declaration that established ASEAN and the 65th year of the Treaty of Rome that established the European Economic Community."
He added, “The ASEAN-EU Blue Book 2022 captures the activities and major accomplishments of ASEAN-EU cooperation programs under all three ASEAN Community Pillars,” and emphasized that “As we read our accomplishments in this Blue Book, I hope that we will be inspired to conceptualize and implement more activities and projects that would further enhance our partnership."
Joining the launch were the Chair and Members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR), Heads of Missions of EU Member States, members of the CPR Working Group and representatives from EU Member States and the EU Delegation to ASEAN, and the ASEAN Secretariat.
The ASEAN-EU Blue Book is an annual report between ASEAN and the EU, highlighting outcomes of cooperation projects between the two regional organizations. The Blue Book for 2022 is also available electronically at http://bit.ly/aseaneubb22.

17 May 2022. - Ambassador Noel Servigon, the Philippines’ Permanent Representative to ASEAN, Colonel Emmanuel Canilla the Philippines’ Defense and Armed Forces Attaché to Indonesia, and Third Secretary Noel Rodriguez visited the headquarters of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) in Jakarta.
Ambassador Servigon introduced Colonel Canilla, who assumed his post in August 2021, and Mr. Rodriguez to AHA Centre’s Senior Management Team led by its Executive Director, Mr. Lee Yam Ming. Ambassador Servigon returned to the AHA Centre headquarters for the first time since the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ambassador Servigon expressed his gratitude to the AHA Centre for consistently providing coordination work and assistance to the Philippines during times of calamities, including during Typhoon Rai last December 2021. Colonel Canillaexpressed his readiness to coordinate with the AHA Centre.
Executive Director Lee briefed the meeting about the recent developments and updates about AHA Centre’s operations including its humanitarian activities in Myanmar.
Mr. Lee presented to Ambassador Servigon, a copy of the book “New Homes of Opportunities” detailing the establishment of the ASEAN Village for the victims of the triple disasters that occurred in Central Sulawesi in September 2018 when a 7.4 magnitude earthquake triggered a near-field tsunami, major liquefaction and landslides. In solidarity with Indonesia, the Philippines provided financial assistance amounting to USD300,000 for the construction of the village(END)

17 May 2022, Jakarta – Ambassador Noel Servigon, the Philippines’ Permanent Representative to ASEAN, attended the 5th Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) for 2022 on 17 May 2022.
During the meeting, Ambassador Servigon, in his capacity as the country coordinator for ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations, briefed the Meeting about events to be held in commemoration of the 45th Anniversary of ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations in 2022.
The CPR discussed outcome documents and various initiatives for the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and related meetings in July-August, as well as the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summit in November, both of which will be held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia under Cambodia’s chairmanship. The CPR also discussed ASEAN’s relations with its dialogue partners and other external parties, and reports and recommendations to ASEAN Senior Officials and ASEAN Ministers.
The CPR is composed of the Ambassadors/Permanent Representative to ASEAN of all 10 ASEAN Member States, namely, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
Based in Jakarta, the CPRsupports the work of the ASEAN Community Councils and ASEAN Sectoral Ministerial Bodies, coordinates with ASEAN National Secretariats and other ASEAN Sectoral Ministerial Bodies, facilitates ASEAN cooperation with external partners and liaises with the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat on all matters relevant to its work.
