The Permanent Mission of the Philippines to ASEAN invites everyone to attend the online event entitled “Legacies and Standpoints: Filipino Women in Multilateralism” on 10 March 2023 at 1:00 pm (Philippine Standard Time).

The symposium is a tribute to the first lady senator of the Republic, Senator Geronima Tomelden-Pecson, an outstanding trailblazer who was instrumental in the creation of the Philippine National Commission for UNESCO and the first Filipina to be a member of the UNESCO Executive Board in 1950.

JAKARTA, 08 March 2023 – Philippine Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) Leader and Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro had a meeting with SOM Leader and Assistant Secretary Daniel Kritenbrink of the United States on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit Senior Officials Meeting on 8 March 2023 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia. 

They agreed to further deepen cooperation between the Philippines and the United States. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest. The U.S. reiterated its commitment to working with ASEAN to promote peace and stability in the region. END

7 March 2023 - Philippine SOM Leader and Undersecretary for Bilateral and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro met SOM Leader and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nong Rong of China on the margins of the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting and Related Meetings on 6 March 2023 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral relations between the Philippines and China, and enhance cooperation between ASEAN and China. They both expressed support for Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year. END
