9 June 2022 –The 48^th Board of Trustees (BOT) Meeting of the ASEAN Foundation (AF) was held at the ASEAN Hall of the ASEAN Secretariat’s Heritage Building on 9 June 2022.  Ambassador Noel Servigon represented the Philippines in the meeting with Third Secretary Noel Rodriguez assisting him.

The BOT, which is composed of the members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN, exchanged views on existing issues and future plans regarding the operation of the Foundation. In addition, in its capacity as members of the Selection Committee for the recruitment of the AF’s 9^th Executive Director for the period 2023-2026, the BOT also discussed the timeline and the criteria to be used in the selection process.

AF Executive Director Yang Mee Eng briefed the BOT on AF’s activities, including strengthening its organizational capacity, partnerships with various ASEAN stakeholders,  improvement of AF’s visibility and the Foundation’s financial situation.

ASEAN leaders established the ASEAN Foundation during the 30^th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 15 December 1997.  The Foundation was tasked to promote ASEAN awareness, identity and development through people-to-people interaction and collaboration with ASEAN stakeholders. (END)
