16 December 2021-  The ASEAN Foundation announced that 108 applicants from all ASEAN Member States, including nine (9) from the Philippines, were selected to participate in the ASEAN Young Climate Leaders Programme (AYCLP) .

The said applicants will receive a 4-day virtual training programme, project proposal development training and a chance to receive a USD 20,000 grant for project implementation.

The successful applicants from the Philippines are:

  1. Rhainne Cshyra Dimatatac, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Batangas;
  2. Mark Jacinto, University of the Philippines, Diliman;
  3. Ma. Karen Capundan, Filamer Christian University;
  4. Rejaynil Valdez, University of the Philippines, Los Baños;
  5. Nalwa Isun, Basilan State University;
  6. Jomar Herry, University of the Cordilleras;
  7. June Philip Ruiz, Pangasinan State University;
  8. Divine Cagayan Suyu, St. Paul University Philippines; and
  9. Jayve Cabañero, Bohol Northern Star College Inc.

AYCLP seeks to create an opportunity for the  young people of ASEAN to share and exchange ideas on sustainability, environment, and climate action-related issues in the ASEAN region and collaborate with others to resolve these issues.

The programme is organized by the ASEAN Foundation (AF) in cooperation with SAP, a  German software company, GIZ (Deutsche Geselleschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit or German Corporation for International Cooperation), a German development agency and Common Purpose, a UK-based leadership organization.(END)
