28 January 2014 – Philippine Permanent Representative to ASEAN, Ambassador Elizabeth P. Buensuceso met with the Indonesian Representative to the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (AIPR), Ambassador Bagas Hapsoro (second from left). Accompanying Ambassador Hapsoro were the officers of the Institute for Peace and Democracy (IPD), Executive Director Dr. I Ketut Putra Erawan (second from right), Director Nasharuddin (left), and Finance Manager Slamet Pribadi (right). As members of the AIPR Governing Council, the two ambassadors discussed how to best promote the AIPR and its activities and expressed their commitment to support the Institute. They hoped that the AIPR would eventually evolve into a credible forum for peace and reconciliation efforts in the region. The AIPR was established under Provision B.2.2.1 of the ASEAN Political-Security Community Blueprint. The Institute is mandated to be the ASEAN institution for undertaking research, capacity building, networking and promotion of activities on peace, conflict management and conflict resolution, as requested by ASEAN Member States. Both Ambassadors Hapsoro and Buensuceso are their respective countries’ representatives to the AIPR.
