Philippine Mission to ASEAN wins bronze
under the category “Best in Government PR”

5 November 2021- The Philippines, including the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to ASEAN, won big during the 3rd ASEAN Public Relations Excellence Awards which was held virtually on 5 November 2021.
Philippine-based government agencies, companies and institutions won 11 of the 36 awards handed out during the ceremony as follows:
- Diamond Awards: Best PR Agency (Page One), Best PR Campaign (Sa Rewards, Atin ang #GDayEveryday - Globe Telecom), Best Government PR (Public Utility Modernization Program - Department of Transportation - conducted by Page One) and Best Comm Use of Social Media (Coping with Youth Depression through Digital Avatar-Page One);
- Silver Awards: Best PR Practitioner (Ron Jabal), Best PR Agency (Comco Southeast Asia), Best Comm Use of Virtual Platforms (#CyberSmart Caravans: Promoting Cyber Security and Safety among Teachers and Students - PLDT-Smart), Best Government PR (PAGIBIG Fund);
- Bronze Award: Best PR Programme (Nestle Philippines).
The Philippine Mission to ASEAN was bestowed the Bronze Award under the category “Best in Government PR”.
“I hope this recognition will inspire and encourage others to exert more effort in conducting public relations activities and promote wider appreciation of the significance of ASEAN, pursuant to the ‘Narrative of ASEAN Identity’ which states that in order to strengthen and seal the bond among ASEAN peoples, there is a need to develop a common identity which will strengthen its sense of community,” said Ambassador Noel Servigon, the Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN.
“The parameters to measure the success of such identity is through awareness and appreciation of the relevance of ASEAN by the ordinary citizens whom we are trying to reach, through our public diplomacy and public relations activities,’’ he added.
The Philippine Mission has consistently endeavored to raise awareness of the different facets of ASEAN, ranging from political and legal perspectives, economic development, environmental awareness, culture, gender equality and health, among others, in order to promote what ASEAN stands for and its significance to the ordinary ASEAN citizen.
To this end, the Philippine Mission to ASEAN has undertaken various activities such as organizing webinars and symposia, collaborating with the Filipino community groups in Indonesia, reaching out to the youth of ASEAN through speaking engagements in educational institutions and conducting social media campaigns aimed at enhancing appreciation and awareness of ASEAN.
The ASEAN PR Excellence Awards is a biennial event in conjunction with the ASEAN International Film Festival and organized by the ASEAN PR NETWORK (APRN) in collaboration with World Communications Malaysia (World Comm) and Institute Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM). It is held to benchmark the industry and practice standards as a distinctive badge to recognize and celebrate achievements in Public Relations practice in the ASEAN region.
“The ASEAN PR Excellence Awards as one of the most prestigious and anticipated events in the PR industry, recognizes outstanding achievements and high standards of public relations professionals, agencies and companies in the industry all around the ASEAN region,” said Prita Kamal Gani, the president of the ASEAN PR Network.
