13 October 2021, Jakarta. – The Philippine Mission to ASEAN conducted the sixth and final installment of its webinar series on the ASEAN Charter for Timor Leste Diplomats. Ambassador Noel Servigon, Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, discussed the ASEAN Charter’s General and Final Provisions.

Timor Leste Diplomats from ASEAN capitals and officials from Dili attended the session. Also present were officers from the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The lively discussions focusing on ASEAN Identity and future prospects for ASEAN were capped-off with remarks from Timor Leste’s chargé d’affares, a.i., Counsellor Agostinho Barreto.

Counsellor Barreto appreciated the efforts of the Philippines, through the Philippine Mission to ASEAN, in providing tangible support to Timor Leste through the webinar series and welcomed future capacity-building activities aimed at enriching their diplomats in preparation for possible future work with ASEAN.

This session concludes the first-ever webinar series on the ASEAN Charter offered by a Permanent Mission to ASEAN. The Philippine Mission aims to conduct similar webinars in the future to bring ASEAN, and the understanding of its Charter, closer to the people.
