Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, H.E Elizabeth P. The Permanent Mission of the Philippines to ASEAN participated in the Annual Bazaar organized by the ASEAN Women’s Circle of Jakarta (AWC) held on 1-2 November 2018 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia. Proceeds from the annual bazaar will go to charitable institutions in Indonesia and the AWC’s disaster relief fund.
The Philippines joined participants from other ASEAN Member States (AMS) and ASEAN Dialogue Partner countries in the Bazaar which featured more than 70 vendors showcasing products ranging from handicrafts to culinary treats. The Philippine stall offered fashion accessories, buntal bags and food packs of Filipino food favorites like tapsilog, chicken adobo and polvoron. A Philippine business delegation led by Department of Trade and Industry Undersecretary Nora Terrada was able to visit the AWC Bazaar.
AWC Patron Madame Fachir (third from the right) gave an impromptu rendition of “Dahil sa Iyo” accompanied by Mr. Jubing Kristianto, an Indonesian acoustic guitarist, and some members of the diplomatic and Filipino community during the bazaar.
The AWC is composed of spouses of diplomats and officials from AMS countries. Its membership is also open to members of the Filipino community. The AWC’s Chief Patron is Madame Yasmin Fachir, spouse of the Indonesian Vice Foreign Minister and Advisor is Datin Chan Chin Ming, spouse of ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi. The AWC aims to promote ASEAN solidarity and friendship through various socio-cultural and related activities, such as fund-raising events like the Annual Bazaar. END.
