Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano presented ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi with a unique ostrich egg artwork by Filipino artist Danny Rayos Del Sol.

Secretary Cayetano and Secretary-General Lim unveiled the artwork at the ASEAN Gallery during Secretary Cayetano’s visit to the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta on 20 August 2018. The delicate ostrich egg, entitled Mag-Ina, is impeccably etched with an image of a mother and child. The Mag-Ina will be permanently displayed at the ASEAN Gallery.

Mr. Rayos del Sol uses his unorthodox medium to bring to life religious images as a way of paying tribute to the Creator. He exhibited his artworks for the first time in 2007, where they quickly sold out. Aside from being an artist, he also identifies as a humanitarian. He dedicates a significant portion of his earnings in helping disaster-stricken places in the Philippines and abroad.

The ASEAN Gallery of the ASEAN Secretariat is home to works of art presented to the ASEAN Secretariat by visiting dignitaries. Other Philippine works of art in the ASEAN Gallery are by Pacita Abad, Manuel Baldemor, Claude Tayag, and Peter Paul Blanco.
