Ambassador Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, participated in the inaugural ASEAN-Turkey Joint Sectoral Committee Meeting on 30 May 2018 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Secretary-General for the ASEAN Political-Security Community Hoang Anh Tuan and Ambassador of Turkey to ASEAN Mehmet Kadri Şander Gürbüz, and was attended by other members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN. Deputy Undersecretary of the Turkish Ministry of Economy Hüsnü Dilemre and Director General of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Namık Güner Erpul also participated in the meeting.

The Meeting discussed ways to move forward the ASEAN-Turkey partnership, including by negotiating a framework document to guide future cooperation. Turkey is ASEAN’s newest Sectoral Dialogue Partner.
