08 December 2017 Jakarta, Indonesia – To commemorate 40 years of ASEAN-Canada Dialogue relations, the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) led by H.E. Elizabeth P. Buensuceso joined by the H.E. Marie-Louise Hannan, Ambassador of Canada to ASEAN planted a Ponciana tree at the ASEAN Secretariat grounds.

In her remarks, Ambassador Buensuceso said that when you plant a tree, you plant a hope and enjoined participants to plant a hope or say a prayer for the peoples of ASEAN and Canada. Ambassador Hannan in her remarks said that the tree signifies the friendship between ASEAN and Canada that will grow ever stronger as we enjoy a relationship that will continue to blossom for the next 40 years. The Philippines is presently the country coordinator for ASEAN-Canada relations.

Also present were H.E. Tan Hung Seng, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Singapore to ASEAN and incoming CPR Chair as well as Dr. AKP Mochtan Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs. END
