Jakarta, 05 June 2017 – The New U.S. Chargé d’affaires ad interim to ASEAN, Mr. Daniel Shields, paid a courtesy call on the Philippine Permanent Representative to ASEAN, H.E. Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, at the Philippine Permanent Mission to ASEAN in Jakarta. The Meeting explored how ASEAN and the U.S. may work together to advance shared goals and priorities under the ASEAN-U.S. Strategic partnership. The meeting discussed ASEAN centrality in the regional architecture, particularly in the East Asia Summit (EAS), as well as regional security and trade. The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss the Philippines priorities under its Chairmanship of ASEAN. ASEAN and the U.S. are celebrating 40 years of dialogue relations in 2017.
