The Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) and the representatives of the ASEAN Disability Forum. 

17 May 2017, Jakarta  – The Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) to ASEAN, led by its Chair, Philippine Ambassador Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, met with the ASEAN Disability Forum (ADF) to discuss, among others, mainstreaming disability issues in ASEAN.

Ambassador Buensuceso highlighted the importance of interfaces with key stakeholders in bringing about real and positive change in the lives of the peoples of ASEAN. In this connection, she emphasized the importance of collaborative programs and projects to “ensure that the ASEAN Leaders’ grand visions of an ASEAN Community are translated into action.”  ADF, led by its Cambodian Chair Mr. Ngin Saorath, highlighted some of ADF’s key initiatives and expressed the ADF’s commitment to further engaging with ASEAN to ensure the implementation of, among others, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Bali Declaration on the Enhancement of the Role and Participation of Persons with Disabilities in the ASEAN Community.

The ASEAN Disability Forum (ADF) is a network composed of representatives of Disabled Peoples’ Organizations (DPOs) from 10 ASEAN Member States and is a platform where DPOs can coordinate actions to advocate for disability inclusive policies in ASEAN.
