Amb. Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, recently visited the ASEAN-Korea Centre in Seoul upon the invitation of the ROK Mission to ASEAN.

In her meeting with ASEAN-Korea Centre Secretary-General Kim Young-sun and officials of the Centre, Ambassador Buensuceso briefed them on the thematic priorities of the Philippines as Chair of ASEAN in 2017 and on the various commemorative activities being planned to mark the 50^th Anniversary of ASEAN next year. She encouraged the ASEAN-Korea Centre to partner with ASEAN and the ASEAN Committee Seoul, which is composed of Embassies of all ASEAN Member States in Seoul, in co-organizing commemorative activities for the 50^th Anniversary of ASEAN and the Year of ASEAN-ROK Cultural Exchanges in 2017.

ASEAN-Korea Centre Secretary-General Kim informed Ambassador Buensuceso that the Centre will organize an international conference on ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations focusing on the socio-cultural pillar in Seoul on 26 May 2017 in support of the Year of ASEAN-ROK Cultural Exchange and the 50^th Anniversary of ASEAN. He added that as Chair of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting in 2017, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines is being invited to serve as keynote speaker of the conference along with the ROK Foreign Minister.
