H.E. Suresh K. Reddy, the Ambassador of India to ASEAN, called on Ambassador Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, to discuss ASEAN-India cooperation on issues of mutual interest, including maritime connectivity, biodiversity conservation, disaster risk reduction and management, and the rule of law. Amb. Buensuceso expressed admiration at India’s commitment to respect the decision of the Arbitral Tribunal constituted under Annex VII of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which ruled in favor of Bangladesh in a maritime border dispute with India that had lasted over three decades. She expressed the wish that China, as a responsible leader in world affairs, follow the Indian example.  Ambassador Reddy is the first dedicated Indian Ambassador to ASEAN, highlighting how much ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations have grown in recent years.
