30 November 2016 – Jakarta, Indonesia. ASEAN honored athletes from ASEAN Member Countries for having garnered a historic record of eighteen (18) Olympic medals at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Also honored were ASEAN Paralympians for their notable performance in an ASEAN tribute and recognition ceremony held at the J.W. Mariot Hotel from 10:00 am to 12:00 p.m.

In attendance were honorees from various ASEAN countries with speeches from Mr. Hoang Xuan Vinh, an Olympic Gold Medalist from Vietnam and Ms. Pandelela Rinong an Olympic Silver Medalist from Malaysia.

H.E. Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, Philippine Permanent Representative to ASEAN received the honors on behalf of Philippine Olympic Silver-Medalist Hidilyn Diaz and Paralympic Bronze-Medalist Josephine Medina. END.
