23 May 2022, Jakarta – ASEAN and the European Union launched the 7th edition of the ASEAN-EU Blue Book and the ASEAN-EU Cooperation Expo at the ASEAN Secretariat on 23 May 2022.

The launch event was officially opened by ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Ambassador Noel Servigon, Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, in his capacity as the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations, and Ambassador Igor Driesmans, EU Ambassador to ASEAN.

In his remarks, Ambassador Servigon highlighted that “The year 2022 is a milestone year for ASEAN and the EU, as our two regional organizations celebrate 45 years of dialogue relations. Moreover, this year is also the 55th year of the Bangkok Declaration that established ASEAN and the 65th year of the Treaty of Rome that established the European Economic Community."

He added, “The ASEAN-EU Blue Book 2022 captures the activities and major accomplishments of ASEAN-EU cooperation programs under all three ASEAN Community Pillars,” and emphasized that “As we read our accomplishments in this Blue Book, I hope that we will be inspired to conceptualize and implement more activities and projects that would further enhance our partnership."

Joining the launch were the Chair and Members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR), Heads of Missions of EU Member States, members of the CPR Working Group and representatives from EU Member States and the EU Delegation to ASEAN, and the ASEAN Secretariat.

The ASEAN-EU Blue Book is an annual report between ASEAN and the EU, highlighting outcomes of cooperation projects between the two regional organizations. The Blue Book for 2022 is also available electronically at http://bit.ly/aseaneubb22.
