21 January 2022, Jakarta. – Partnering with the ASEAN Studies Center of the Gajah Mada University, the Philippine Mission to ASEAN conducted a webinar on “The ASEAN Charter: Improving its Implementation.” Philippine Permanent Representative to ASEAN Noel Servigon discussed the important bodies mentioned in the Charter, correlating their functions and highlighting the relevant provisions that may require implementation.

The webinar was moderated by Managing Director Yulida Santoso of the ASEAN Studies Center and may be viewed through the ASEAN Studies Center’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRwLvOw7T94). The webinar featured a lively discussion on how the implementation of particular provisions in the Charter may help in addressing emerging issues.

Ambassador Servigon expressed his hope that the webinar brought ASEAN closer to the citizens of ASEAN and emphasized that it is only through a deeper understanding of ASEAN, particularly its Charter, that the goal of having a rules-based regional community may be fulfilled.
